I pray that the efforts right now focus on the Panchen Lama. I fear if the 14th Dalai Lama dies before the boy is released, any hope for Buddhism, without its corrupt Chinese influence, will be forever lost. I believe the most important urgent action should focus on the Eleventh Panchen Lama.

No one has the right to suppress another. Everyone has the right to be free. Keeping making people aware. If we ignore one country's situation, this will grow and engorge the whole world.

Our school program is based on dharma as its title states. We at SDHS refuse to sit idly by and watch Tibet suffer under the oppression of the PRC. While we realize that we are a very, very small organization, it is our responsibility as global citizens, Buddhists, and human beings (all one in the same) to take a proactive stand against PRC for their violation of human rights and respect of Tibet's sovereignty and its people's right to self-determination. It is an uphill struggle, indeed, but we at SDHS have joined the growing numbers who support Tibetans. This experience also fosters a profound sensitivity and compassion within us for all sentient beings who suffer.

I have nothing but respect for the Tibetan people and their culture and sympathy for their plight. I hope we, the people of planet Earth, can soon muster the courage and wisdom to galvanise the political will to reverse injustices such as the occupation of Tibet SOON. I call upon the reasonable government of China to listen to the hearts and minds of most of the civilised world, and do the right and just thing. There is no loss of face to be had in this, only face to be gained.

I support Tibet completely and I despise the Chinese colonization of the country. I feel especially supportive toward Tibet because I am Jewish, and what the Chinese have done since 1959 is no different than what Adolf Hitler's Nazi Germany did to 6.5 million Jews along with 5.5 million other people.

what china is doing to tibet is no different than what hitler did to the jews. and we stand by looking as the killing still gos on, never stopping day in day out. this is a genocide. what is one to tell their children? if you don't stand for something you will fall for anything. do you think we are free - if it can happen to them it can happen to you. don't fool yourself - it is a very thin thread for us all. god bless the dalai lama and the panchen lama and all people who want to be free. (china should not host any games - they don't respect anyone or anything.)

Transylvanian Hungarian Sándor Körösi Csoma, known as the father of Tibetan studies in the West, gained European recognition for his compilation of an English-Tibetan dictionary. Originally destined for Eastern Turkestan (Xinjiang), he set out for Eastern Turkestan after his Tibetan sojourn, but died of malaria in 1842. Sándor Körösi Csoma's homeland of Transylvania has been experiencing a persecution of ethnic Hungarians that has paralleled that of the Tibetan people by the hands of the Chinese. I couldn't believe it. When I found out about Tibet and the devastating injustices and oppression that is being forced upon the Tibetan people I was shocked. It was four years ago. I was 20 years old. The only thing I knew about Tibet was that some celebrities - mostly Richard Gere - were big supporters of whatever was going on with Tibet. I guess I had heard about the Dalia Lama on tv. I first started to open up to Tibet when I heard that the Tibetan religion believed in reincarnation, which was an idea that I loved and was fascinated by and pretty much believed, even being raised Catholic. So when I heard that Martin Scorscese had made a movie about Tibet called Kundun I went to see it. It was pretty but very slow, but I struggled through and watched the whole thing. Then when I was in college I saw a poster saying that a Tibetan Monk would be speaking. I went and was eager, for I thought that he would be speaking about the religion and reincarnation. But when I got there and heard this very old Tibetan Monk speak of his 50 year imprisonment and the torture that he experienced and witnessed at the hands of the Chinese, my chest filled with rage. And when I heard this old monk speak in his Tibetan tongue and being translated by a middle-aged Asian man my eyes filled with tears. He loved them - these Chinese that tortured him. He prayed for them. He knew that they couldn't break his spirit, what he had within. They could never take that away from him. His inner peace. His faith. His Love. They couldn't torture that out of him. And as he described his life and his imprisonment, I was horrified. He was describing Tibetan nuns being raped and molested with cattle prongs. And this was happening as I was alive. In My Lifetime people were being tortured and killed for simply believing in a different religion. Here I was raised on Television and Christmas Trees in America. And here I was to believe that the greatest and the latest travesties against humanity were the Holocaust and the enslavement of Africans 100 years ago. I thought the current rascism in America, the death penalty, or world hunger were the worst things in the world - but people were and are being tortured and raped - people of a holy nature, religious people, peaceful people - being imprisoned and tortured for very long periods of time. What right did the Chinese have to come in and wipe out an entire people, culture, religion, and language? And to go even further - imprison the keepers of this Tibetan religion - torturing them, trying to break their spirits. Then I found out later when expressing my anger toward the Chinese government to a friend, that the Chinese government is allowing huge corporations to come into the Tibetan lands and set up slave shops or sweatshops and communities. I was horrified to find out that American companies were doing business with the Chinese government - let alone setting up slave shops to make stuff for America. I made my friend write down a list of all companies that had these sweatshops and procceeded to boycott. He laughed and said that I wasn't much of a consumer to begin with. It was true that I had never bought any clothes from the Gap or any of those other places, but I cerainly wasn't ever going to now. And then I found out that both the parties, Democrats and Republicans, support doing business with the Chinese. The only difference is in how it is said. SO, last election I sought out the only candidate that was vocally even addressing this injustice and I voted for him, and if he runs again I'll vote for him again. Ralph Nader. Hopefully there will be peace again in Tibet. I don't know how it will happen, but I pray for it. God will figure a way to get it done. Maybe the Chinese president will grow some love in his heart and free Tibet. Now I tell people about Tibet whenever I can. I tell them about the terrible injustice going on over there. I pray for it all. Tibetan awareness is rising, and hopefully Tibet will be saved by this growing awareness.

My idea is to start a campaign to boycott Chinese products. Many electronics used in western countries are made in China. We, western people, are participating in Chinese economic development by buying these products. Let's start to identify the products made in China and the companies who make them and tell the companies we will not buy the products anymore until China frees Tibet. Let Chinese officials know that people aren't buying Chinese until Tibet is free. People from the around the world can help the Tibetan people. Jorge Ribeiro

I was fortunate enough to visit Tibet last summer. It was an amazing trip. We were very excited about going, but had some reservations about how a trip to Tibet may support the Chinese government. This we did not want to do. I am glad we went. The experience really was amazing, and it really opened my eyes to how Tibet and its people have suffered under the Chinese. I hope that some day Tibetans all over the world will be able to travel freely to their ancestral home, free from Chinese control and subjugation. I am sorry the world's governments have been so silent. AW

Please, if you are a teacher or a role model of any kind, PLEASE open your students' eyes to the need for compassion and the need for ACTION. Passively feeling bad for the lost rights of Tibetans helps little. Please be active in stirring the emotions of others so there is a wider, broader voice in support of human rights. Write letters, boycott "Made in China" products, etc. Act! Thank you so much.

Greetings. With all the problems Tibet has had over the years with the invasion from China and all the ongoing problems since then, think of this, nothing happens for nothing, this is a test for all, but in the end it is how one thinks and acts that counts. In the long haul good will always overpower evil. China is no diffrent today; they are hounding their own people just for doing chi gong, etc. So remember the words of the Lamas, what you do in this life, will affect your next one, so walk the path of the Warrior and fear nothing.

Tibet should be free and if everyone could just see that, perhaps the world could be a better place for all groups of people. In my College English class, we have to choose a country to research, and then create a website for it. Like a lot of people, I did not know a lot about the things that were occuring in Tibet as I was growing up. The more I learned, the more I knew I had to help somehow. Visiting Dharamsala, meeting, as well as proudly becoming friends with, Tibeten refugees in India, made my love for Tibet grow even stronger. Tibet needs to be free and once again become its own country. It will be a slow struggle, but it is one that needs to be fought. However, we must fight, not with hatred, but with peace and love.

A couple of days ago I bought a T-shirt by designer Migmar Tsering who has his own Free Tibet brand. At that time I didn´t know very much about the Free Tibet campaign. I bought the shirt because I thought it looked cool; that was the only reason. I wore it tonight, and I suddenly realized that I did not know ANYTHING about Tibet and what my T-shirt actually said. I felt so embarrassed, I went home and I ended up in front of my computer. And here I´ve been for the last four hours reading about the campaign, the people of Tibet, and their culture. I will continue supporting the campaign from now on, and I will most definitely wear my T-shirt with pride. When people ask me about it, I will from now on be able to speak up and spread the word. I simply wanted to sign the guestbook with an apology. It seems our government, as well as the rest of the free world, still has great lengths to travel before Tibet accrues any help (military or otherwise) from Western sources. China continues to take advantage of its permanent U.N. membership, and uses this as solice against any agression. The presence of so much hope in this situation is a true tribute to human enlightenment.

Dear people, the only thing that I know about Tibet is from the author Henry Sibil Hoskin (T. Lobsang Rampa) or what I see on TV news. I root for Tibet and I sympathize very much for its culture. I think it is sad the way it is being dominated. This efforts on the internet and other ways can be useful to make people know about this civilization. I think your work is very well done, and I am full of hopes that works like this can bring Tibet to us not as a mere Chinese province but as a beuatiful and splendourous culture which can enrichen the occidental civilizations. My best wishes from this Brazilian! Jairo (Sao Paulo)

Thank you for a place to express our thoughts on the beautiful and hardy people of Tibet. My son is on a 3 month bike tour, by himself, of Lhasa, Mt. Kailaish, and heaven knows where, probably base camp at Everest. I'm thankful for China to give him a visa, but I'm not hearing from him for 2 weeks...and he is a tall blonde. I pray every minute that he is having the time of his life and will be back, safe. I know he'll stay at any monastery that will let him. Blessings to all, Maggie

In summer 1989 I spoke with friends of mine about the wall in our homeland. I believed that I would see the fall of the wall within my lifetime, maybe in 2020. Most of them called me too optimistic. Even after the fall of the wall (Nov. 1989) in January 1990, when I was in Leipzig, nobody dared to say that Germany would be reunified within the next decade. The political problems that remained to be solved seemed too big. Actually, German reunification came ten months later. I really hope and pray that the same unexpected chance will happen for the Tibetan people.

I was very glad to see your web site, via Phil Borges. I continue my support for the plight of freedom for the Tibetan people. When I addressed their issue to a U.N. official at an Intl. peace conference in Scotland last October, the reply was: "Continue to keep their voices heard, do not give up the fight, continue to keep their struggle in the forefront. Do not be discouraged. Remember Nelson Mandela, his example is an inspiration to us all." Blessings of peace & good health to all the peaceful warriors. Tashi Delek!

"If we have no peace, it is because we have forgotten that we belong with each other" (Mother Teresa). It looks as if China won't find any peace until Tibet is set free. I also believe: we people of the world should understand that in saving Tibet we don't only save a culture and race of people, but we save ourselves. In this we will instill some dignity that humanity has somehow lost.

Not much to say except Tibet is portrayed very well in the movie "7 years in Tibet." I liked it very much and it gives me an understanding of the situation in Tibet. Prayers and wishes to you all. -Mark

I appreciate all the work you have put into Tibet. If only a few people become aware of the situation in Tibet because of your site, then you have made a difference.

We must be ready for a crash in Wall Street. Perhaps this will bring a change in policy and the liberation of Tibet.

Your poetry is so beautiful. I found your poems when I was doing a web page on the Occupation of Tibet for a school project and I just happened onto the non-Tibet poems. I just wanted to tell you that I loved them....

Layne.... I do compliment you on your section on Tibet. I am an avid Tibetan relief worker.... To see your section on the problem that persists in Tibet is a relief. To think that people over here are actually starting to open their eyes and are standing up for the peaceful inhabitants of Tibet.... I have witnessed first hand the persecution the Chinese people have done to the locals...quite appalling. Hats off to you and your page.

Free Tibet! Free Taiwan! Support free speech! Fight for human rights! Why doesn't the American government treat China the same as Cuba? I'll tell you why. Because of the vast business interests the US has in China.

That is so sick what they're doing in Tibet. I guess the red scare's not really over. I am never buying anything that was made in China again. Thanks for the awareness. :-)
